Assistant Principal Ulwick
Abbot-Downing School, Assistant Principal of Student Services, Laura-Beth Ulwick, is entering her 17th year of education and is excited to continue to be part of the Concord School District community. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Saint Michael’s College in Winooski, VT. Where she then completed her Master’s in Education with a concentration in Special Education while she was a Resident Director for the college. Mrs. Ulwick also completed her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Advanced Educational Leadership from the University of New England in 2017, allowing her to also obtain her principal certification.
Mrs. Ulwick is originally from Massachusetts and comes to New Hampshire by way of Vermont. Mrs. Ulwick and her husband of 17 years, lived in Vermont for 10 years. During this time, Mrs. Ulwick taught at an alternative middle/high school in South Burlington, VT. Their first child was then born in 2005 which prompted Mrs. Ulwick and her young family to move to New Hampshire to be closer to family in Massachusetts. Mrs. Ulwick was hired as a Special Education Teacher at Conant School in 2006. She then taught 3rd grade at Conant for 1 year before returning to special education. In 2016, Mrs. Ulwick became the Special Education Coordinator for Abbot-Downing School while still teaching as a special education teacher. Mrs. Ulwick, her husband and two children currently reside in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Mrs. Ulwick’s oldest, Mikayla, will be a high school freshman this year at Newfound Regional High School and her son, Tavian, will be a fourth grader at Bristol Elementary School. Mrs. Ulwick enjoys attending concerts with her husband, powerlifting, gardening, traveling with her family, hiking with her Bernese Mountain Dog, Tuckerman, and enjoying the great outdoors and all that it has to offer!
After 3 years of leadership, as the Special Education Coordinator, Mrs. Ulwick is beyond excited to embark on this new adventure as Assistant Principal of Student Services. She is proud to continue to call Abbot-Downing her home! She is looking forward to working alongside Principal Blinn, the staff, and families of Abbot-Downing School. Laura-Beth is passionate about the learning needs of all children and ensuring students are afforded the appropriate opportunities to show their strengths.
