Arrival & Dismissal
Arrival & Dismissal
Drop off and pick up times are very busy at ADS. Please review the procedures carefully so everyone can stay safe.
Important Notes
- Drop off and pick up in a safe area
- Be mindful of walkers and bikers
- Bikers must WALK their bikes on school property
- Walkers must use sidewalks
ARRIVAL
If you are using the two “pass through” lanes for dropping your child(ren) off at school:
When you enter these lanes if 1) you plan to stay in your car/child(ren) get out on the passenger side to the curb, 2) pull forward to the furthest opening. ADS staff members will be out there to direct you accordingly. If you are directed into the bus lane, slowly pull up to the orange cone past the crosswalk (right hand side).
- If you have a family member or friend driving or picking up your child, please communicate the procedures to them.
- If you feel your child can walk a short distance to/from school, consider alternative drop off/pick up locations. On the attached map, you will see the alternative site locations.
- Bow Street (near Rollins Park)
- Carter Street (near the South Street intersection)
- South Street (ADS side heading from Rite Aid)
- Conant Drive (past the RMS exit corner around the curve near the football field).
These locations can be used to drive to in the morning, drop your child(ren) off, and let them walk to school.
In the afternoon, you can arrange with your child to be a “walker” and have them meet you at a location off the ADS grounds. In cases like Carter Street and Bow Street, there is a crossing guard waiting there to cross your child safely.
DISMISSAL
The dismissal lane assignments are as follows:
- Kindergarten and 1st Grade is the lane closest to the school.
- 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade families will take the middle lane.
- 4th Grade and 5th Grade families will create a lane in the staff parking lot.
If you are in need of a new ADS car pick up sign please email Mrs. Martin (amartin@sau8.org) and she will issue you a new one.
